Michele Baillie, Principal and Registered Patent Attorney, has over two decades of legal experience in the patent law. She has worked with Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized companies, startups, and individual inventors in the U.S. and abroad, including Silicon Valley and New England. Ms. Baillie specializes in the preparation and prosecution of patents, and in the preparation of infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions. Her expertise also includes the counseling of clients in U.S. and foreign patent filing strategy and portfolio management. She has the distinction of being named as a Rising Star by New England Super Lawyers in 2015, a Rising Star by Boston Magazine in 2016, a Top Women of Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in 2018, a Super Lawyer by New England Super Lawyers in 2018-2020.
Prior to founding North Shore Patents, Ms. Baillie was a partner at Sawyer Law Group, LLP, in Palo Alto, California. Ms. Baillie has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. She is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is licensed in Massachusetts and California.
Ms. Baillie is actively involved with the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts (WBA) and The Boston Club. At the WBA, Ms. Baillie served as its President from 2017-2018 and on its board of directors from 2010-2019. Ms. Baillie currently co-chairs the WBA North of Boston Committee. At The Boston Club, Ms. Baillie founded and chairs the North Shore Affinity Group. Ms. Baillie is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Boston Patent Law Association (BPLA), the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Boston Bar Association (BBA), and the Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts (AALAM).
